What are my followers doing?
This week I shared a poll on my Instagram account and asked my male following if they cared for their skin. There were almost 2000 votes and the results were not all that surprising based on the conversations I’ve had with men about their skin.
In this poll, 53% of men said they don’t care for their skin or wear SPF (Sun Protection Factor)
I received a large number of messages from people who had skin cancer or knew of someone who had it who shared their own personal story. It is very frightening to think about how little people know about minding their skin, but neither did I for most of my life.
My regrets
I often say that not wearing SPF and always looking for a tan is one of my only regrets. I was ignorant of the damage it causes and the risks. I try to wear SPF everyday now and certainly if I am going to be out in the sun. This week I am talking mens skincare with Facialist Eavanna Breen who is a specialist in skin care. We are going to talk about simple and effective ways to mind your skin. This conversation will take place on Thursday at 20.30.

SPF is available in most supermarkets and pharmacy’s these days, such as Supervalu and Boots
Advice:
Don’t forget to stay hydrated, especially with temperatures increasing during summer time. This is rather important when spending time or outdoors and in the sun.
