One of the things that came up this week in conversation with colleagues at work was the power of understanding how we learn and how different teaching techniques can enhance how people learn.Using imagery, simple language and stories are some examples of how information can be retained more effectively.
When we want to achieve something special or something that requires a high level of expertise we can often become either overwhelmed or distracted because of the work involved day to day and week to week to achieve that specific goal.
Breaking things down into achievable parts and also understanding how we can retain information efficiently will unquestionably help us keep focused, motivated and progressing towards our goal.
The image below was sent to me this week and I found it useful for showing…
A. The importance of repetition
B. How quickly we can forget information that is important for the execution of a skill or task

This blog also discusses an interesting concept. “Metacognition”, which is described as “thinking about thinking”.
